7 Heart-Winning Sales Email Tips that converts into Discovery Meetings

Writer: Ren Saguil Ren Saguil

Hello Friends,

Welcome to another week of sales tips!

Writing effective sales emails is one of the most powerful sales tools.

I have successfully met CEO's and difficult-to-reach clients thru email.

Some of them not only became my clients but also life-long friends.

How to do that?

Let's dive in.

Tip # 1: Nail your Target Market and Ideal Client Profile

You receive those spam emails, right?

Asking if you want software development services or building a website?

Of course, you junked them because you don't need them.

Cold emails can be a highly effective strategy for generating leads and increasing sales, but only if they are targeted to the right audience. To make your cold emails successful, you must first understand your target market and ideal client profile.

If you have researched the company, you are offering them value, and if you communicate effectively, they will respond to your email.

This is how you book meetings effectively.

This involves researching your potential customers, and they are the ones who have a problem you can solve.

Your cold emails will have a much higher chance of success if you reach out to the right person.

Tip #2: Keep it Short and Sweet

No one has the time to read a lengthy email from a stranger.

Keep your email short, concise, and to the point.

I will leave this point short. 🙂

Tip # 3: Personalisation is Key

Personalisation is one of the most important factors in creating a successful cold email.

Sending a generic email to hundreds of prospects will not yield any results. I learned that the hard way.

Begin your email by addressing the prospect by their name and include a personalised one-liner showing them that you have done your research and are genuinely interested in their needs.

Examples

  • Hey Jane, huge fan of what you're doing at YYY.AI.

  • Hey Jane, I came across your profile on LinkedIn and love what you're doing - impressive that you point out how to make tough decisions, I have the same values.

  • Hey Jane, saw you are hiring a business analyst, congrats on your growth.

  • Hey Jane, love what you are doing at {company name}, especially the work you did with {their customer name}.

  • Hey Jane, been following you for a while on LinkedIn. Impress with your thought leadership on sustainability.

  • Hey Jane, I saw you engage with Justin Welsh. I am also a huge fan, when I saw your comment, I knew I had to reach out.

  • Congratulations on your launch Jane! Saw your post on LinkedIn.

Tip #4: You must have a very specific offer

You must have a very specific offer to make a successful cold email.

Your offer should align with your target audience's needs and pain points. It's important to clearly communicate the benefits of your offer and how it will solve their problems.

Is it a software platform that increase their revenue, save money, save time? (Or services?)

Tip # 5: Use Case Study and Showcase Social Proof

Social proof is a powerful tool that can increase the credibility of your product or service. Include any relevant statistics, case studies, or testimonials from satisfied clients. This will show the prospect that you have a proven track record and that others have benefited from your solution.

Example

  • We specialise in IoT development for the healthcare industry. Recently, we built an app for Sienna Health that has increased early detection of x sickness, which resolved to 75% patient recovery.

Tip #6: Include a clear Call to Action

Your cold email should have a clear call to action that prompts the prospect to take the next step.

Be specific about what you want them to do and make it easy for them to take action.

Remember, your goal is to book a discovery meeting.

Examples:

Mind If I send over a few times to chat?

Are you keen to get the same benefit? Let me know and I can send over my calendar.

Tip #7: Follow Up

It's essential to follow up on your emails.

You can't expect a prospect to respond to your initial email. Many people receive hundreds of emails daily, making it easy to miss something important. Following up can keep your message at the forefront of their minds.

A good follow-up message should be more concise than the first email, reminding your prospects about the value proposition you initially presented.

After 3 days from the first email in the same thread, send your second email.

Example:

Hey Jane,

We just helped X Client generate more donations through our fundraising software platform.

Would still love to help your charity generate donations for your causes.

Let me know, and I will send over some times to chat.

Thanks,

Okay, so let's summarise.

This should be the flow of your email.

  • A personalised one-liner based on research

  • Case Study

  • Call to Action

  • Email Signature

Here is an example:

Transforming your cold emails to hot prospects takes time, effort, and skill, but the results are so worth it.

By taking time to write a personalised one-liner, keeping it short and sweet, using engaging language and powerful words, including a clear call-to-action, and following up, you can take your sales game to the next level.

Remember to nail your target market and ideal client profile, have a very specific offer, use case studies and showcase social proof, and include a clear call to action.

Let me know how you go! I truly hope this will get you more leads.

Thanks for reading, I appreciate you.💜
